On Saturday, October 27, the Utah Humanities Council hosted its annual Book Fair at the Main Library in Salt Lake City. On the afternoon roster was Charlotte Bell, author of Mindful Yoga, Mindful Life. More than 55 persons, from twentysomethings to ninetysomethings, gathered to celebrate the publication of her book.
Charlotte began her presentation by leading us in simple movements done seated in a chair, followed by a few minutes of mindfulness practice. She read a poignant account of her first meditation retreat; she talked about her practices; she answered our questions; and she signed her book. The presentation gave us the chance to connect with Charlotte and each other, and to glimpse the place that yoga and meditation can hold in our own lives.
